Here’s the thing you beautiful mamas. You will get your pink back. I promise. But it won’t be the same pink there was before. It will be a new shade of pink 💖 and what a beautiful thing that is. This new version of you that emerges each time.

After every birth I’ve had I’ve lost parts of myself in the sacrifice, chaos and beauty of the newborn and baby stages. After my first baby I felt overwhelmed at the thought of this but I came to realise this was just a natural progression of motherhood for me. The devotion to my newborn baby, the sleepless nights, clothing covered in vom, the long hours of snuggling on the couch, the cluster feeding and routines. This is where I wanted to be. This is where I had chosen to be. I still made every effort to remember who I was amongst the mum. I would meet my friends all the time and go for walks. I would attend events and see glimpses of her again. She was still there by the way. For now her priorities were different. And she was figuring out how to be both.

I believe in nothing more than mothers prioritising themselves in motherhood. I have done it all through out. But I also understand that this looks so different as a mother to a newborn than it does to where I’m at now.

My children are older, they no longer rely on me for everything but they still of course rely on me. I have more time to find the parts of my again that I loved before. And new parts of me I never knew existed! And what a beautiful journey it is.

So I’m here to say your pink will come back. You may have to work a bit for it. You will have to prioritise yourself. But it will be worth it ✨

*this of course excludes postpartum mental health and broken support networks because that is much more than losing your pink and I will always fight for better systems for mums who are struggling xx

12 years of Finn! 🤍 Happy birthday to our beaut

12 years of Finn! 🤍 Happy birthday to our beautiful boy. The boy who made us parents, who changed everything we knew about life. The boy who has inspired us to heal & grow and has grown with us as we have navigated all the firsts on this parenting journey including our mistakes. I can’t believe we are here already!

Finn is remarkable. Those who know him, know this already but if you haven’t yet met him let me tell you a few things. He will always ask you about your day and how you are doing and he will wait for your response because he is generally interested, especially adults. He will always use exceptional manners for every interaction, so much so it often leaves people he meets floored. He’s very sensitive and feels emotion deeply just like his mum. He calls out bad behaviour amongst his peers. He compliments my friends and has said how beautiful they look every time he sees them from a very young age. 🥹

He writes books, like novel style books that the teachers have asked to keep because they loved them so much. He’s so smart even I don’t know what to do with his brain 😂 he can be VERY loud and energetic. He’s silly. But also loves his solitude. He loves to read. His games. His friends and his family. And when I say family I mean he loves and asks after all his extended family too because he knows how important they are.

Most importantly he’s confident in who he is. In a world that has always told kids with “quirks” or adhd as different, he continues to show up as fully himself every day. I’m so proud of him. The way he tackles challenges. His self awareness and accountability already at such a young age when he does make mistakes because he does make them. His care and devotion to his younger brothers. He is Leo’s absolute favourite person and has been from the moment he was born.

I will always be in your corner Finn. Never let the world dull your spark because you’re going to be a part of the brighter future we all need. Happy birthday darling 🤍🎉🎂

Easy Chocolate Caramel Slice recipe! Ingredients:

Easy Chocolate Caramel Slice recipe!

Ingredients:

Base:
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
125g butter, melted

Filling:
100g butter, extra
2 x 395g cans of condensed milk (full-fat)
1/3 cup golden syrup

Topping:

100g milk chocolate
100g dark chocolate (or you can use all dark chocolate)
1 TBSP of vegetable oil

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 180 C/160 C fan-forced. Grease and line a rectangular or square pan with baking paper. I used a square tin for a thicker slice but you can use a rectangle tin if you want it thinner.
2. In a bowl, sift flour and combine with sugar and coconut. Add melted butter. Mix well until it all comes together.
3. Press mixture firmly in to prepared pan and bake for 15-20mins or until lightly browned. Cool.
4. Place extra butter, condensed milk and golden syrup in a medium saucepan. Stir constantly over low heat until all combined and smooth. Don’t take your eyes off it as it burns easily. Pour over cooled base and bake for another 20-25mins until golden. Cool.
5. Combine both chocolates and oil in heat-proof bowl and place over saucepan of simmering water. Stir until melted and smooth and pour evenly over cooled slice.
6. Make sure you CUT your slice before placing in fridge to cool otherwise the chocolate will crack. Cool in fridge for about an hour or until chocolate has hardened (I chuck mine in the freezer because I am always desperate to eat it)
