When you find out your pregnant for the first time or when you become a mum, your inundated with a list of products that you need to buy that you really become unsure of what is important and what you can do without.
As a second time mum I have learnt from the first time around to only purchase what is absolutely necessary and what will actually be used.
The CoziGo is one of those products and I wish I had known about it when I had Finn four years ago!
The CoziGo is a cover designed for airline bassinets and strollers that blocks out lights and helps keep our babies sleeping. As a mum of two, I cannot stress the importance (especially for your mental health) of not wanting to wake a sleeping baby (especially if it has taken you hours to get them to sleep aka master Leo) and I am sure many other mums would agree!
After having Leo six weeks ago, I have used the CoziGo almost everyday since I started leaving the house. In those first few weeks of having a newborn baby, it can be really hard to get out and the best you can probably manage is a daily walk to get some fresh air and take a break. When I put Leo in to a stroller, he immediately dislikes it and starts to squirm. Once I start to walk he begins to enjoy it but the minute I get outside and the glaring sun shines in his face, he becomes uncomfortable again. Previously, I would use the likes of a blanket over the stroller to block out light but it would usually see me holding on to it awkwardly so it didn’t blow away in the wind and would not block out an efficient amount of light or be too hot, making it harder for bubs to fall asleep.
Four years ago when we had Finn, (who was a shocking sleeper) we had to push the stroller around the house for a few weeks just to get him to sleep and it was exhausting. We would try and use blankets or a sun shade to make it dark but it was never dark enough and having the CoziGo back then would have made life that little bit easier.
The CoziGo has been a godsend and I keep it in the car because I know I am going to use it on every outing whether indoors or out. Originally designed as a cover for airline bassinets (and still is) this product has taken off as one of the best stroller covers around. I have used it for walks around the lake, as well as shopping for grocery items because it keeps the glare of the lights out of his face and allows him to continue sleeping. If Leo is awake in the pram (and is fed) he falls asleep pretty quickly after I put the CoziGo on. It removes all stimulation for him whilst still providing some view of shapes an movement so your baby can feel secure knowing you are still there.
Not only does the CoziGo block out 97% of light but it also acts as a protection from the sun with an ultra-violet block of over 95%. However, it is advised to keep your pram out of direct sunlight where possible (if parked somewhere) and use added sun-protection (sunscreen etc) but gives you reassurance when you’re out for a walk on a beautiful summer’s day.
One of the things I questioned when I first tried it out was if it was breathable enough. I was rest assured when I could see the woven fabric with a tonne of holes in it making it 100% breathable and well-ventilated. There are also zips on both sides and the front of the CoziGo so you can keep an eye on them (or just stare at them all day like I do) and make sure they are comfortable.
Seriously, what is not to love about the CoziGo. I really can’t exaggerate enough why every parent needs this product and I don’t know how I did without it. Literally everything has been thought of from blocking out light, to the breathable fabric and the protection from the sun. It even works as a barrier from rain although not meant to be a rain protector, the little droplets actually slide off the material rather than going through! This was brilliant for me when I got stuck in the rain when out for a walk the other day and was stressing out about Leo getting wet only to see he was completely dry, without even a droplet on his wee face!
The cover is a universal fit so it will cater to nearly every type of stroller. I have been using the capsule attachment to our stroller while Leo is little and it covers it perfectly. Once the capsule is removed, I will use it to cover his stroller as well. I can’t wait to try it out on the plane on our trip to New Zealand soon as we always struggled with Finn’s sleep on flights when he was younger so I look forward to a sleeping baby this time around.
Aside from all the great features I have already mentioned, the CoziGo is incredibly easy to clip on, is light-weight and with a bit of practice is easy to fold up and store away. You can check out the videos on the website if you need any assistance with packing it down but you will soon get the hang of it.
